Whiskey Wednesday with Brian – William Wolf Pecan

This Whiskey Wednesday, I will be toasting to William Wolf Pecan Bourbon Whiskey – 60 Proof

Elephant in the room for all of the Bourbon purists…. simply put… I know. This is what is printed on the bottle.

Any way, back to the reason why we are here today, whiskey….

William Wolf Pecan Bourbon Whiskey

William Wolf Pecan is blended and bottled one bottle at a time in Holland with whiskey imported from the United States and pecan distillate.
William Wolf is not subtle notes or hints or pecan that will be tough to identify, it is completely the opposite, it is PECAN!

This is a different whiskey for me. I usually enjoy my whiskey or bourbon neat. Full oaky, wheated with subtle notes of different flavors as I slowly sip and occasionally feeling the burn as I swallow.
William Wolf Pecan is the opposite of that description. Don’t get me wrong, it is good, but I found this whiskey to be more of a pre-dinner or dessert beverage.

Smell: Pecan – As soon as you crack the bottle open, the sweet smell of pecans instantly hits your nostrils.
Taste: Pecan, honey, vanilla and mild whiskey flavor.
Finish: Sweet Pecan – as if you ate a slice of pecan pie and then didn’t wash your mouth out with milk.

Now that we are fully in the holiday season with parties and get togethers filled with food, candy and cookies, William Wolf Pecan is a great beverage to sip on while you listen to co-workers, friends and family drone on about their life this holiday season.
William Wolf Pecan is great on its own, but you could also add it to coffee or a mixed drink to be extra festive. If you don’t like the taste of pecans, then this whiskey is not for you. If you do enjoy a nice slice of pecan pie from time to time, then go ahead and grab a bottle of William Wolf Pecan. I did have a tough time finding it, but you can check out your local store for availability. I picked up my bottle for just under $30.

Coming from the North, I have recently noticed that pecans are running through the viens of most Southerners and they have a distinct way of saying “pecan”. Apparently, there are many variations of how to say “pecan” but it has recently been summed up to me as:
If you are from the North, you pronounce it “Pee – Can” as in, “I’m going to go to the bathroom in that pee can”.
If you are from the South, you pronounce it “Pa – Caan”. Imagine taking a sip and saying “pecan” with your pinky in the air!
